Learning independently

The library has books and other resources that will help you find out what you need to know. There’s everything from how to put a new roof on a shed to astrophysics. And if you’re already following a formal course then we can supply the background reading and information you need.

Free online learning courses and tools

Whether you want to find a new hobby, take a course or refresh and expand your skills the library can help you. These courses are available free, 24 hours a day, to all Slough Library members by logging in with your library card.

Adult learning opportunities

If you are interested in learning something new or updating existing skills, there are local courses to help you. Slough Lifelong Learning publishes a brochure of adult learning opportunities, which also includes courses from providers such as the Workers’ Educational Association and the Pakistan Welfare Association.

Computers and the Internet for beginners

Many of our libraries offer free computer courses, with tutor support. These short courses teach beginners how to use computers and the internet. Ask at your local library, or check the Library news and events listing for more information.

Learning English

You can borrow books to help you learn English. The ESOL collection (English for Speakers of Other Languages) has material for both beginners and more advanced students.
