A local leisure centre is now officially under the management of an award-winning leisure operator.
Everyone Active has today (Thursday 1 June) taken on the management of Montem Leisure Centre after agreeing a 10-year contract with Slough Borough Council to deliver leisure services across the town.
The sports and leisure provider will kick off the new contract by making a number of improvements to the site. As well as aesthetic enhancements to give the centre a new lease of life, Everyone Active will be repairing the lighting and air-conditioning to make customers’ experiences more enjoyable. It will also be updating pieces of gym equipment to bring the fitness suite up to standard.
The investment shows Everyone Active’s commitment to improving Montem Leisure Centre ahead of the new site opening in 2019.
As well as bringing the centre’s facilities up to date, Everyone Active will enhance and increase the activities on offer, while minimising any disruption to current services. The group exercise timetable will remain the same, and over 60s will continue to benefit from free weekly swim sessions. Membership prices will remain unchanged and members of Langley Leisure Centre can use Montem for the same price, with the option of upgrading to use the spa.
Everyone Active’s regional director, Jon Senior, said: “We are delighted to have officially taken over the management of Montem Leisure Centre. The new site will be a fantastic facility for the community to enjoy, but ahead of its opening we are determined to invest in the current centre to bring it up to standard and meet the needs of customers.
“The Council is investing a fantastic amount to ensure people have access to state-of-the-art facilities, and we’re looking forward to helping them achieve their goal of building healthier communities by encouraging more people to get active.”
Slough Borough Council is investing significant funds to bring improved sports and leisure facilities to the borough. Everyone Active will manage the Ice Arena, Salt Hill Family Activity Centre and Langley Leisure Centre once refurbishments and construction works are finalised. It will work with the Council to get as many people as possible participating in physical activity at the new centres.
Councillor Joginder Bal, cabinet member for leisure and environment, said: “We are so excited to see Everyone Active take over at Montem.
“Already we have seen the signage change and other changes within Montem Leisure Centre are happening very quickly. And it is excellent to see rates for residents staying the same and Langley members already taking advantage of being able to use Montem for the same price.”
To mark the new partnership, Everyone Active is giving customers the opportunity to win a prize hamper worth £2,500. A free family membership, one year of free children’s swim lessons and a luxury spa day are just some of the prizes included. To be in with a chance of winning, customers need to register online for their free Everyone Active card. You can do this by visiting www.everyoneactive.com/montem.
